So we finally manage to organise a whole day without the Tiny Toms in tow. Yes that's right - 8 long hours of child-free bliss. No mouths to feed, no nappies to change, no Duplo marathons, no peek-a-boo. Just me and Mr Toms. As our first "date day" in longer than we could remember we knew we wanted to make it a good one. Our criteria was somewhere relaxing, chilled, special and memorable. We opted for a day of soaking up sunshine in luxe surroundings at Finn's Beach Club.

From our first glimpse of the beautiful, turquoise Indian Ocean, white sandy crescent and thatched roofs of the bamboo beach bar we knew we'd made the right choice. Today was going to be a good day.

Located at the Semara Luxury Villa's resort on the Bukit Peninsula, Finn's offers a slice of beachside paradise. We headed down a few steps and zipped down the cliff in a short, but thrilling, inclinator ride. A few more steps and we were greeted by the welcoming and attentive staff on the beach. It really is heaven in Bali; gorgeous picture perfect calm blue waves lapped against the white sandy shore. We bagsied our loungers and then it was decision time; relax, take a stroll, splash about in the waves or do nothing. As our first non-parenting day in a long, long time we sensibly opted to do absolutely nothing! Flopped in the shade with my Kindle and a coffee was utter bliss.

After working up an appetite with leisurely stroll on the beach, some impressive star jumps and a splash in the sea we headed to the open air, bamboo restaurant. Offering everything from light snacks to full on feasts, Finn's philosophy is "simple food, done well." The menu had an array of healthy juices, authentic pizzas and fresh salads, sandwiches and seafood. We both opted for the Steak Ciabatta with onion relish and fries. It was simple and delicious; mouthwatering steak and a decent portion of the crunchiest fries. It's certainly not cheap at Finn's but the quality of our food was outstanding.

Time for another lie down. With a relaxed ambience and cool, chilled tunes on the playlist and a picture-postcard beach view it was the ultimate place to rest and rejuvenate.

Eventually we summoned up the energy to take advantage of the free watersports on offer. As well as the loungers and towels, if you happen to be feeling active you can also enjoy complimentary snorkelling gear, stand up paddle-boards and kayaks. We hopped in a kayak and splish-splashed our way out across the crystal clear, calm lagoon; peering into rock pools and looking back on this little piece of paradise.

Sadly it was then time to say goodbye and head home. We left feeling relaxed, sunkissed and dreaming about when we can come back again. It won our hearts so much we've even promised to bring the girls next time. With swimming, strolling, playing, eating, exploring, shell collecting and sandcastle building it is a place the little ones would love too. We may go for lunch and stay for sunset; beachside beanbags, bonfires and munching on toasted marshmallows sounds just blissful. Top tip - check out the tide chart on Finn's website before you visit as your experience will change. Low tide is calm and perfect for snorkelling and swimming with little ones, high tide the seas will be rougher and more dramatic.

At 250,000 IDR for entry (Under 12's free) it's a bit of a splurge on our travelling budget but you do get 150,000 IDR redeemable against food and beverages in stunning surroundings. Finn's Beach Club gave us everything we were looking for a special and memorable day out at an unforgettable beach. We'll be back!
