Oh my goodness - what an absolute find the Paon Beach club is. We walk through the towering front gate into the palatial grounds of the Taman Bhagawan complex and my jaw drops. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

My first thought is how on earth has this place escaped us for so long. My second is what a brilliant review this hidden gem will make for the blog. My third is actually this place is so good I'm not sure I want to share it.....

The elegant Paon Beach club lies on the eastern shores of Tanjung Benoa just north of the luxurious Conrad Resort. An idyllic beachside setting it is blessed with lush poolside lawns, timeless architecture and open sea views. A real mix of traditional Javanese and French colonial it is a visual delight. Scattered with touches of old-timey sophistication, think salvaged railway sleepers, reclaimed fishing boats, traditional ornate tiles and rickety old bicycles.

Separate wooden jonglos are dotted throughout the complex and serve as different venues for various events; including live music sets and performances. It really would make a perfect layout and setting for a stunning, glamorous wedding reception!

The infinity pool is surrounded by a wooden deck, plush loungers and umbrellas. The staff simply couldn't do enough for us and made us feel extremely welcome. For a bargain 125RP minimum spend each we enjoyed beachfront views on our comfy loungers and complimentary towels and various lotions, potions and sprays.

The Paon Beach club food is all about fresh ingredients and Indonesian and International favourites with a twist. We plumped for a hot, sour and spicy Tom Yum soup, Thai beef salad and an exceptional fried rice. All the dishes were excellent and beautifully presented. Best of all they were exceedingly well priced especially when you were blessed with such luxurious and exquisite surroundings.

After lunch, we took a long, lazy stroll along the golden sandy beach and even managed to wade out to our very own private sand-bar - just paradise. Although we were child-free on our visit the Paon Beach club prides itself on being family friendly. The grounds offer plenty of space for kids to run, swim and play. With its picture, perfect beachfront location there is plenty of chance for will sandcastles, shell collecting and paddling. Benoa is protected by an offshore reef so the waters were calm and clear - perfect for the little ones.

We spent the day pinching ourselves at how lucky we were to have stumbled across the hidden gem that is Paon Beach club. It's just too good to keep to ourselves...
